I thought Apple folks found choice confusing? ;)
No you heard and interpreted wrong. Apple folks love "choice", but what we find confusing is why relatively "normal" people 'choose' the non Apple products they choose?
As an example... Want a digital music player, one buys a Zunes over an iPod... Why? Very confusing... :D

Since I just got my new PMG5 yesterday, what is a good program (free or otherwise) for making backups of DVD's (legally of course)? I have quite a collection and ones that I use a lot I want to make an extra copy of. I am looking for a program that will allow me to make an exact copy of the DVD, as if I were playing my original copy.
Side Note: Since my new PM has a 8x Superdrive, do I NEED to use the 8x Apple DVD-R's, or can I use a different brand (or speed)? I remember back when I used to use faster CDR's they didn't always work good...is this still true? Thanks!
Without a doubt, "SuperDuper!" is one of the best backup programs I've used. It won't make a DVD that is immediately useable on any old DVD player, but it will save all the information easily on a disk image should you need to make one (since you're not actually watching these anyway).

I'm certain TJ MAXX ran this by their legal team...
If they are willing to sell the product at a $100 loss, that's their choice.
But it's not a $100 loss because tjmaxx is buying them for LESS than $499 to begin with from their distributor. So maybe they only lose $65 or $75 per iPad. As most have mentioned here the goal is to get people into the stores. I'm sure tjmax only bought a few per store so there will always be the "sorry we sold out" line and the customer will just hang around and buy something.
Even if tjmax did buy them at full price and lost $100 so what? Do the math if they lost $100 per iPad and bought 300 ipads....that's $30k for a killer ad campaign. And if you've ever been to their stores you will notice they never stock more than like 5 quantity of 90% of their items. Do you really think they are going to have hundreds of ipads per store? No way....more like 10-20 at best.

Also, what is so bad about the iOS notification system? I just hit "Close" if I don't care about a notification at that time.
Let's say I'm driving in my car through a city. Of course not. However, there are certain cases where the death penalty should be applied. The arizona shooter for example who killed a 9 year old girl and many others, he should be fried.
Why, what good does it do, does it bring back the people who where killed? Or if your goal is just to keep him from doing it again then wouldn't locking him up for life do the trick?

I think google has a lock on the map thing. I can't see apple employees driving around remapping the world to get their own data base
google maps itself is pretty crappy compared to Bing maps and some of the higher cost mapping solutions out there. google maps is hardly ever updated

Does anyone know if Apple will be offering this card separately? I picked up a Quad with the stock 6600 and need to add another card (to run two 30" displays).

I saw a commercial for RIM's playbook the other day. It has some uniqueness to the interface. Sure all tablets are going to be similar to an extent but at least RIM tried to put a little originality into theirs unlike Samsung and their blatant copy of the ipad.
I can't wait to see the TouchPad. webOS is pretty nifty :)

I'm on the 450 minute plan, and I have 1770 roll over minutes. I've stuck w/the 450 plan, mostly cus almost everyone I call is on AT&T (I switched from Verizon, and saved a boatload, since it's just me on the plan). In the 4 years I've been with AT&T, I've only ever gone into my roll over minutes *twice*. They always end up expiring on me.
Text messaging & the (grandfathered unlimited) data plan are far more valuable to me.

Here's my current set-up. I'm looking for a good xmas Mail icon and maybe one for Safari and FF. I know what I'd like, but I'm not a Photoshop guy at all. Also, the Mail icon looks like it's sitting on the dock in an odd manner. Kind of bugging me, but I can't find a different, Christmas-y one.
I love your desktop! Any chance you could give me a link for the icons you have (dock and the hard-drive icon which is awesome)?
