You made a good point...US media highlights issues based on what it likes and presents it to the people the way they want it to be. US hates 'Ahmedinejad' so they are highighting the opponents..as if the opponent would have been any different for the US..US Media standards reached a new low with their double-standards in covering the Iranian election protests. Looks like US media wants to manipulate their citizens with one-sided information and only those news that media DECIDES are in the interest of the people.

I do not think, number of employees matter. I work for a desi company and it has just 2 employees. Labor was breeze and 140 got approved in 4 weeks. Never got any RFE. However, I was in EB-3 despite having 4 years bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience.

I can file my 485 from outside the country ? I always thought that once I go out of the country i will have to refile my I140 and then 485 in consular processing.
Once you go out of the country without filing 485 or getting EAD after 485. Your 140 and LC is still valid (provided the employer has not cancelled it). If the job and position for you still exists in the company (and the company wants you for employment), you can file 485 from anywhere and go for councellor processing.

You might have recevied I-94 at POE when you entered in USA with H1B visa (or it may be part of your h1b approval notice) For H1b extension, you need to attach the copy of the latest I-94. I dont think you need to attach copy of passport, when you extend H1B status or I-94 with in USA.

So I'm guessing I should have no problem to go through H-1B extension, PERM, and green card application with an expired passport as long as maintain legal status and don't leave the country, right?
I'm glad I asked on this site first before I enrolled at a random graduate school.

Hi All,
I am self-filing my i-131 application this week. Here are the briefs about status:
Current Status: Working on EAD, 485-pending (July 2007 Application)
I am dependent on my husband's green-card application. I used my 6 years of H1-B and started working on EAD about 6 months back. We never applied for AP before. My husband extended his H-1B beyond 6 years as I-485 is in process.
I am tryin gto find complete list of documents for the application. I am planning to travel on Caribbean Cruise on Feb 27, 2010. I hope to get my AP approved by then. To avoid any RFIs I wnat to make sure I am sending everything that is needed.
1. Completed form I-131
2. 2 Photographs (size 2x2) with white/grey background. Head height and eye positions as per USCIS guidelines.
3. Copy of EAD
4. Copy of I-797C (I-485 receipt)
5. Copy of Arrpoved I-140
6. Copy of all pages of Current passport

Well I dont understand you guys... Why the hell u start cursing... If i was a Devil or what so ever taking a illegal route... I wouldnot have posted this question here but would have gone the route and started the process

and wat about all those desi who work with consultancy who stay on bench etc etc ... where does Oct 2nd/ gone for them..,..? I am sure people who cursed me were one of them !

When the US govt is ignoring the problems of legal immigration and making it harder and harder to immigrate (especially when the interest of foreign nationals to come here has subsided with unprecedented growth in their native country...) it is foolish to expect to lure skilled people to this country any more

I don't think they are even trying to get skilled immigrants anymore, but just temporarily get many people in their 20s to mid 30s. Hiring drops drastically after mid/late 40s here anyway. I guess the logic is also that anyone can be trained locally to become a skilled worker (hopefully)
current Immigration policy ends up getting mostly people who are familiar looking, friendly types, who keep up with the latest fads.
I guess it depends on what they feel is more important and makes them feel gooood, happy.

This is really what Obama's advisors should read. Employers cannot find qualified employees to even fill these great job openings (with unemployment rate nearing 10%). America is loosing already and will keep on loosing if immigrant workers do not take up these jobs to keep US competitive.

my brother got recently married and his wife went to stamping in kolkata and they gave 221g for h4 and 2 days later they even cancelled my brothers exiting stamped H1 and his visa.he is in IT industry
any ideas whats next for him.

Pappu - Can we also ask all the users to update the amount of taxes they've paid in 2008 (now that everyone is filing for their returns)? There seems to be a negative campaign against us that somehow we don't need to pay taxes and we are a burden on local entities.
Also, if possible, can we track how many of us are willingly capable of purchasing a home as a bargain chip for GC. I believe that we are capable of stimulating this economy and it'll be for everyones good, including US Citizens.
