Anyone arguing against this is an idiot.

First people complain about not having choices or prices being too high. Now there are more options and pricing is lower.

    Wow. Just wow.

Well those addicted to Apple can still pay more for their songs. Enjoy. I won't stop you. Just like those that want to pay more for ebooks.

Personally - I'll shop it around and pay the best price whoever is selling it.

For those experiencing the "device is not eligible for this build" error, the solution is up at the Apple support discussions. (https://discussions.apple.com/message/13386595?messageID=13386595)

Wonderful update. I hope the 160GB upgrade isn't too expensive, but 1GB standard and starting at 120GB are more than I expected or even hoped for.

I was also still doubting if I should get a MB or MBP, but that question has been settled today.

I've been using Parallels for running VISTA and Win XP but today I found the link for the Vmware Beta Download that has only from what I understand been handed out to some for testing.

Here is the link that I downloaded the beta from:
    http://fs01n5.sendspace.com/dl/6144991f8a6907390971fa15063bfbdf/45743bcd/h08tq5/VMware-Fusion-e.x.p-33141.dmg

Im running it and works well. I know its in Beta but already after installing and running our Full copy of Vista and Win XP on Fusion, Im going to stick with Vmware.

Now, right now its free, and not sure if it will cost money down the road for Vmware, but this one is free but only perk to Vmware is that the Vmware logo pop up as a water mark on the screen every now and then. Hasesnt really bothered me.

Anyways, good luck if you try it out.
Cant wait for the full release free or not, will probably get it.

    Carter

The point, though, is that the Sandy Bridge MacBook Air will have a much better CPU, but a worse GPU unless Apple does something surprising.

Yeah ! Going with some brand new AMD's Llano APU. :D

I still don't get the value of wireless in a music player--not in actual practice (battery life and added bulk, vs. the need to plug in to charge, which naturally takes longer than synching anyway).

But whatever it is, I think its chances will depend a lot on whether it can be as slim and light as an iPod, and the same elegant ease-of-use as iTunes and iPod.

Wireless music players is the future but also a problem again for the music industry. Taken the popularity of the iPod you would be able to have acces to over a 1000 music librarys in a small city. You would be able get a new network next to the internet dedicated to wireless music and videos. This all if Apple doesn't lock those things out but surely hacks would be created to make this possible.

Filesharing will move from the internet to the street. I see a lot of things possible with wireless music players. For good and bad but it will definately change the way we listen to music again.

I've seen the blue screen on XP. It's funny because I've been told by Windows users that it doesn't exist in XP, yet I witnessed it two weeks ago when a colleague of mine was trying to do something with Adobe Acrobat. The program just spazzed and the blue screen came up.

The reason you don't see it much is because the new default in XP is to just reboot the machine instead of sitting on that screen. It's still there.

Could someone clarify this for me: Aren't hard drives too slow to make use of Thunderbolt anyway? In a typical USB 2.0 external hard drive, what is the bottleneck in speed: The speed at which the hard drive spins, or the USB 2.0 connection? If it's the USB, then why do people even care about the RPM of a drive? If it's the RPM, then isn't USB 2.0 fast enough to run a hard drive at its native speed?

I reckon the zune will be in the same situation as the sony clie. Its gonna be an amazing product with a million more features than an ipod, but will millions of people buy. Just as sony couldnt compete with palm, microsoft cant compete with apple, but the xbox is very impressive for a software company so im not going to underestimate microsoft.

You can 'like' a purchased track from within the music player app now, and post a comment about it. Surprised no one else mentioned this yet... Anyone else spotted any additional changes?

I picked up on this before, it was in 4.3.1 for sure

...Anyone heard anything on the "multi-touch" front lately?

I think the mouse may be killed in '07 by multi-touch innovations.

The fact is, we've been through this before. The iPhone 1 was going to be a huge failure because it didn't have 3G. They were concerned about coverage and battery life. It's the same issue now.

People are saying apple should make those sacrifices now to keep up with technology. But nobody is addressing the fact that apple has historical evidence that this is a sound approach.

Anyone vain enough to splash out so much extra money in the first place to have the same product in a different colour is hardly going to lose too much sleep over having to spend another $30 or so on a pretty new case...

Interesting quote from the UK store MBP Buy now :

    "Intel Core 2 Duo processor
Powered by two processor cores on a single chip, MacBook performs up to five times faster than the previous generation iBook."

Looks like the copywriters thought they'd be upgraded too...

They've upgraded the store pages for all the products, not just the MBP...

Good call, other stores are not showing this 'error'.

Guess Im still pissed at Apple for discontinuing the Cube a few weeks before I could afford one!

    Step 1: Buy Mac mini.
Step 2: Repeat mantra "Mac mini is the new Cube, and I don't care about the integrated graphics" 5000 times.
    Step 3: Enjoy!

Nice explanation. It seems that the whole idea of cell towers is unworkable. You think it is bad in the cities? Even semi-rural areas have no coverage at all.

There has to be an entirely new technology for this, or the use of satellites or aircraft instead of silly towers. C'mon Apple, solve this problem.

or lobby your local government not to oppose new towers because a few idiots think it spoils the view

It seems unlikely that Apple will employ this none-touch technology in the next-gen iPod. Can you imagine how much battery life it would take? Just to prevent fingerprints?

I imagine the full-screen iPod will indeed use a touch-screen in order to increase screen size - but it's impractical to employ motion sensors in a gadget like this, which people use while walking, in their pocket, in their car, etc.

I'm not saying Apple will do this, but a more practical solution would be to coat the touch screen with Durabis (the Blu-ray scratch coating) or something similar so that scratches and fingerprints don't show up. That would be MUCH cheaper, conserve battery life and space, and allow for sort-of tactile-feedback (at least touching a smooth surface) and easy operation - keeping your fingers floating just above it is a novel but inconvenient way of doing things.

I have no idea what happened except Plutonius got lynched and isn't a WW. Are Chrmjenkins and Appleguy 321/123 okay? Are they Specials? I can't tell if I'm on the Detention Level of a Star Destroyer or on the bridge of the Enterprise D.:confused:

The stories are best read when hi/drunk/tripping. appleguy and chrmjenkins' prominaint stance in the narritivies does not reflect their in game roles. Actually, I wrote up the first narrative then assigned the roles via random.org.
